Getting out of my own way (and into momentum)

Solo doesn’t have to mean going it alone.

In January, I wrote a series called Stepping Into My Bold Move Era.

It was about undercharging — something so many of us do — and how I took a big leap with the price of our Virtual Coworking Club. (You can scroll back on our Instagram to see it, here’s the first post.)

Well, I just made another bold move.

In case you missed it: I ran a four-week campaign with less than three weeks of prep. It was fast. It was big. And it worked.

I guess you could say I’ve found some momentum for bold moves.

I feel like I’m getting out of my own way and getting on with the job. And honestly? I’m proud of myself.

The Productivity Illusion campaign was a big swing.

No, it wasn’t the perfect time.

No, I didn’t execute everything I’d planned.

No, it didn’t hit every single goal I set.

But it was incredible. And what it did for me personally? That’s something no metric could measure.

I feel good about marketing my business — both of them, actually.

I’ve got ideas coming out of my ears.

And I’ve got the momentum to keep going.

Ever just needed to get out of your own way?

Me too.

I could’ve made a million excuses:

→ The lead time was (really) short, and I like to be organised.

→ I didn’t have a big budget, and my big ideas weren’t cheap.

→ My skin is awful right now, and I hate being on camera.

→ Client work is booked in, and deadlines don’t wait.

→ Late nights were inevitable, and I like having decent work hours.

But I knew this was something I needed to do, both for my business, and for myself.

So I did the thing. And I’m really glad I did.

And I didn’t do it alone (well, technically I did most of it alone). There’s nothing a little encouragement can’t fix and I’ve been lucky to receive so much support, both publicly and behind the scenes.

That’s why I care so much about creating spaces like this. Because solo business doesn’t have to mean doing everything solo.

Whether it’s a bold move or a small step, having people to talk it through with makes a difference.

Here’s to the next bold move — hit reply and tell me yours.

Rach

P.S. The Productivity Toolkit bonus? That wrapped on Monday. But if you missed it? Don’t stress — the doors to our Virtual Coworking Club are always open. The bonus was just that. A bonus. You can join when you’re ready — today, next week, next month. (But if structure and clarity sound good right now? We’d love to see you inside.)

What we're liking RN

  • IRL events: Exhibit A below.
  • Good playlists: I saw Janine's post on LinkedIn this morning and it reminded me of how much I love a good playlist rec. On high rotation around here are:
    • The Americans soundtrack — if you haven't seen this show, it's absolutely brilliant and I reckon it has the best way of weaving music with the story (honestly, just watch the first episode and tell me you're not hooked).
    • Literally any 90s playlist (like this one) — I don't know what it is but I love writing with this as my background.
    • Sometimes I also dabble in more current day, even better if Dua Lipa and Chappell are involved like this one.

In-person is back!

Last Wednesday was our very first Coworking Days event for 2025 here in Wagga. It was the best cup-filling and productive day, making new biz friends and hanging out with old (well, long-time 🤣) ones.

We changed venue this year to accommodate our growing group and Uneke was the perfect spot. Good food. Good people. Good chats. Lots of work done. Exactly what we want from this event (and the kind of people we want coming along).

More dates coming soon — let me know if you're keen and I'll make sure you're among the first to know.

We’re a community of female solo business owners who get the highs, lows, and everything in between. Whether you call yourself a freelancer, consultant, creative entrepreneur, solopreneur, small business owner, specialist or something else, you’re welcome here.

We make solo business ownership a little less lonely and a whole lot more rewarding. Here you can grow your business without the pressure of doing it “the right way”.
